About Your Host:
Many new visitors to Mick Payton Studios donât know my background. Take a moment to explore my image galleries and see what we offer – you might be surprised by whatâs possible here.
I’m lucky to be Neuro-Divergent, I’m just on the Autistic Scale and a little bit of Asbergers thrown in. This has advantages in my photography by allowing me to pay intense attention to detail whilst absorbing the total image in front of me, giving me total concentration. I can be a bit blunt and to the point, also a bit socially awkward and sensitive about being the subject of personal ‘banter’ or humiliation. I’m quite safe though : )

Workshop Etiquette:
To maintain a high-quality experience for everyone, we ask all attendees to follow a clear and respectful code of conduct:
Our goal:
To provide a professional, creative, and respectful environment where photographers and models can produce exceptional work while enjoying a safe, productive, and positive experience.
After 40+ years of professional photography and running successful workshops, I’ve learned that the best sessions come from a shared sense of humility, respect, and cooperation. This code of conduct is based on feedback from models, photographers, and my own experience – designed to make your day enjoyable, efficient, and fair.
We’re not in competition, please leave ego’s at the door guys!
đ Workshop Essentials
Respect Comes First: Courtesy, professionalism, and mutual respect are the foundation of every successful shoot. Leave egos at the door.
One Voice at a Time: Please allow me to lead the workshop without interruptions or commentary – no sarcastic or “smart-ass” remarks, please.
No Side Shooting: Shooting while another photographer is directing the model is not permitted. Each person deserves fair time and attention.
Equal Time: Everyone will receive a timed one-to-one session with the model. Respect the slot and avoid overstepping.
- No video : on you own equipment, camera or phone
- Equipment : please do not touch the equipment unless specifically asked to do so
- Alcohol : no alcohol is allowed
â General Guidelines
No Sexual Talk or Innuendo: Absolutely no inappropriate conversation or behavior is tolerated.
Respect Boundaries: No touching, hugging, or invading a modelâs personal space unless the model initiates it.
Do Not Flirt: This is a professional space. Flirtation or romantic discussion is not appropriate.
Model Contact: Do not request a modelâs contact details. If given, it should be on their terms.
Pre-Event Requests: Donât contact models beforehand with requests. If you have suggestions, pass them to me and Iâll coordinate.
đˇ During Your Shoot
Setup Time: Youâll have time to establish exposure and test your setup before your official slot begins.
Timed Sessions: Time begins once you begin directing or shooting the model – not during conversation or prep.
No Extra Shots: Asking for “just one more” after your time ends is unfair to others.
Image Review: Youâll have 1 minute post-session to show your images to the model; extended feedback can happen later in the day.
Group Shooting: In shared sessions (e.g., fashion on location), youâll be told when group shooting is permitted.
đĽ Interaction & Conduct
Respect the Modelâs Breaks: Do not approach models during breaks or meals for photos or feedback.
No Model Management: All matters relating to the modelâs comfort, safety, or travel are handled by me. Please donât offer lifts or advice directlyâspeak to me.
Avoid Distractions: Donât use mobile phones during briefings. If urgent, step outside.
Not a Showcase: This event is not for self-promotion. Refrain from showing off your portfolio during the day – focus on learning and creating.
đ Props & Personal Ideas
Group Event = Group Rules: Props are welcome if they donât require a model to change outfits and are used during your slot.
Respect the Format: This is not a one-to-one session or your own private shoot. Be fair to others.
â For Models
Teamwork = Great Images: A professional, cooperative attitude ensures a productive and respectful day for everyone.
Safe & Supported: Your comfort and safety are a priority. If anything feels wrong, speak to me immediately.
No Image Redistribution: Do not pass on workshop images to third parties (e.g., designers, jewelers) without permission.
Attitude Matters: No prima donna behavior. If issues arise, I reserve the right to end the session.
đŁ Additional Notes
No Promotion of Outside Events: Models and photographers should not promote other studios or events during the day.
No Commercial Use Without Consent: Any commercial use of images (e.g., ads, merchandise, websites) must be agreed upon by both the model and photographer. Use on platforms like OnlyFans is not permitted for my images.
Feedback Welcome: I care about your experience. If you have any feedback or concerns – talk to me directly. Let’s avoid âtrial by social media.â
đ Final Word
Weâre here to create, learn, and enjoy. Respect for each other makes that possible. Letâs keep it professional, positive, and productive.
